Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior

If you would like to invite Jesus into your heart, you can begin with the sinner's prayer. It involves understanding the following:

  1. We are all sinners. The bible makes it very clear that we are all in need of forgiveness and mercy from God. The prayer is a plea for mercy and forgiveness instead of God's wrath.

  2. The prayer also involves an understanding of what God has done to remedy our condition. God took on flesh and became a human being known as Jesus Christ (John 1:1,14). Jesus lived a perfectly righteous and sinless life (John 8:46; 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus then died on the cross for our sin, taking the punishment for us. Later, He rose from the dead, showing that he was victorious over sin, death and hell. If we place our faith in Jesus Christ, our sins are forgiven and we are promised an eternity with Him in heaven. Ephesians 2:8 declares, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.

If you would like to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ, begin with the following prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that I have sinned against you and that my sins separate me from you. I am truly sorry. I now want to turn away from my past sinful life and turn to you for forgiveness. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
